About Me

Hello blog readers,

My name is Vanessa. I live in sunny Florida with my husband, John, our newborn son, Evan, and four pets (two dogs – Sadie and Rocky, and two cats, Jude and Mr. Kite, and yes, we love The Beatles). I enjoy cooking healthy food, taking photos, reading, and spending time outdoors doing just about anything. I teach freshman writing at a big research university and believe it or not, it’s actually my dream job.

I’m not sure exactly what this blog is going to be about or what it’ll look like six months from now, but I’ve learned from past creative projects there is no quicker way to turn a joy into a burden than to put a bunch of rules on it. So this blog? It’s just going to be here. And I’m going to write about stuff. Small stuff. Big stuff. Happy stuff. Funny stuff. Sweet stuff. Maybe just stuff stuff sometimes.

In the past blogging has helped me through various life transitions by giving me an outlet for reflection and creativity; writing has always helped me make sense of myself and documenting life also seems to help meΒ live it just a bit more authentically.

I hope you enjoy.
